Tugboat (our domestic cat) has his food / water mat in our bedroom while Clarice (our feral cat) has her food / water mat in her room. We figured that each cat needed their own snuffle mats for their instinct play, even though they freely check each other's room out. Each morning, at breakfast, 5 treats are hidden in each snuffle mat, followed by catnip and silvervine sprinkled on top of each one. We've noticed that Tugboat and Clarice check out the mats throughout the day. The following day, during clean up and breakfast, both snuffle mats are shaken outside under the bird feeder. Bits of catnip shake out-- NEVER any treats. The Snuffle Mat is a fantastic way to engage the cats' instinct of discovery; keeping our cats from getting bored. They machine wash and dry--slick as snot on a door knob. Thank you Jackson for this grand and helpful idea. (My sister, who lives in MA and has a 1/2 feral Maine Coon Tabby cat was sent a Snuffle Mat and enjoys sleeping on it when she isn't on her cat tree watching the neighborhood activity. We always joke that Mimi is a Bloodhound in a cat's body, always sniffing the air and searching for things around the house when she first wakes up. You could be anywhere and open food silently; She'll know! Well, I bought this Snuffle Mat to help support the cats during the Florida fires, not knowing if Mimi would even care for it, but it's wonderful! Once I showed her that there were treats hidden in it, she started pushing her nose into and all over it, digging and searching! The quality of the Snuffle Mat is great too! My 15 y/o, Pepper, is not big on play, but loves to use her brain; especially when treats are involved. She's pretty smart and has a few different types of puzzle toys, but I wanted to get some more variety in her rotation. I was a little worried the rug wouldn't be worth the price, but I was wrong. Great quality and Pepper loves it. It's become her favorite and she will sit by it when she wants to snuffle.

I love filling this with treats for my kitties.
